Dr. Lawrence brings nearly two decades of progressive educational leadership experience across California and Colorado. Most recently, she served as Director of Special Education at Santa Paula Unified School District. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting students, strengthening educational programs, and fostering collaborative relationships that help school districts thrive.

🚸 #BACKTOSCHOOL — SCHOOL ZONE SAFETY REMINDER 🚸

As another school year gets underway, we want to remind everyone in our community that school-zone safety is everyone’s responsibility.

With students returning to school, please allow yourself a few extra minutes in the morning and leave home early. A few extra minutes can make a big difference when it comes to keeping our children safe.

🚗 PLEASE DO NOT DROP YOUR CHILDREN OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROADWAY.

If you need to drop your child off, please find a safe and legal location to park or pull to the designated loading area before allowing your child to exit the vehicle. Stopping in the roadway can impede traffic and create a dangerous situation for children, pedestrians, and other motorists.

⚠️ Please also remember:
- Do not stop or park in a red zone or other restricted area.
- Obey all STOP signs, traffic signs, and other traffic-control devices during school hours.
- Do not block traffic, crosswalks, intersections, or areas designated for school loading and unloading.
- Cambridge Avenue is posted at 25 MPH ALL DAY LONG. Please do not exceed the posted speed limit.
- Be especially alert for children walking, riding bicycles, crossing the roadway, and entering or exiting vehicles.

📚 California Vehicle Code reminders:

CVC §22400(a) — Prohibits driving or stopping in a manner that impedes or blocks the normal and reasonable movement of traffic. This can apply when vehicles stop in the roadway to drop off or pick up students.

CVC §22500 — Prohibits stopping, parking, or leaving a vehicle standing in various prohibited locations, including certain areas involving intersections, crosswalks, and other restricted areas. Red-curb restrictions may also apply depending on the location and applicable local regulations.

CVC §21461(a) — Requires drivers to obey applicable regulatory signs, signals, and other official traffic-control devices.

CVC §22352 — Establishes applicable prima facie speed limits, including the 25 MPH school-related limit under the circumstances specified by the statute and posted signage.

👮 Officers will be patrolling the areas around our schools and enforcing the California Vehicle Code in an effort to keep our students, children, pedestrians, and motorists safe.

Our goal is not to inconvenience anyone—it is to make sure every child gets to school and back home safely.

Please slow down. Follow the signs. Use designated drop-off areas. Leave home a little earlier. And most importantly, watch out for our kids.

💉 August is # NationalImmunizationAwarenessMonth!

As we get ready for a new school year, now is a great time to make sure your student is up to date on all required immunizations. Staying current on vaccinations helps protect your child and our entire school community.

📚 Before the first day of school, take a moment to:
✅ Check your student’s immunization records
✅ Make sure they have received all required vaccines for their grade level
✅ Submit updated immunization records to your school, if needed
